So heres the thing; Businesses generally have the freedom to price their offers as they deem fit. However, this freedom doesn't mean they can include deceptive promises or provide misleading information related to their pricing. It's completely fine to highlight the positive outcomes of previous customers, but you have to be specific and accurate. It's essential to ensure that pricing remains transparent at all times and that the actual charge matches the advertised price.

A significant aspect of online business is recurring payments, whether that’s subscriptions or payment plans. It's important to understand that laws govern auto-charging credit cards, and the language used to convey this to customers needs to be crystal clear. When customers sign up for a payment plan, they implicitly agree to the automatic charges, eliminating the need for businesses to seek permission every time a charge is initiated.

When you enter this territory, you're also entering the side of things where chargebacks, refunds, etc. can come up. You want to be sure that you have your refund policies in place and all of your legal ducks in a row to prevent any craziness from happening.

It took me a bit to find my groove, but now I feel like I'm rockin' and rollin'. I'm not just churning out words, just because; I'm being intentional with making sure that this book is as helpful to you as possible. Even if you have already done this before, it's a good idea to check your settings every so often because I found out that when Venmo updates or adds a setting, the privacy settings are often set back to default.

If you have a business, and your customers are sending you money via Venmo, then I'm sure that they don't want or expect their information to be public and shown to everyone. You need to be sure that you aren't publicizing transactions and information and keeping this information sealed.

Your list of clients/customers is considered trade secret of your business. It is something that you have intellectual property in and publicizing this would be really bad and can potentially lead to others trying to go and poach your current customers.

There's so much that goes into running a business and paying yourself probably gets confusing.

It all begins with a solid budget. Understand your personal financial requirements and what you need as a human, such as monthly bills, savings goals, and emergency funds. This forms the baseline for what you need to pay yourself before you even go in. Then, factor in your business expenses, taxes, and a buffer for unexpected hiccups.

I see lots of mistakes when it comes to this and 6 of the most common are:

1️⃣ Paying yourself too much. If you take it all, what's left for your business to grow?

2️⃣ On the flip side, the second mistake I see is paying yourself too little. Of course we have to think about what makes sense financially for your specific business with mistake #1 in mind.

3️⃣ Thinking that the money you pay yourself is tax-deductible or tax free or business expenses.

4️⃣ Approaching paying yourself with a feast or famine mindset. This does tie in 1 and 2 but when you pay yourself too little and have to starve for the next 2 months or pay yourself too much and nothing is left for your business.

5️⃣ Not marking payments to yourself properly in bookkeeping. Mark your payments as "owners draws" or owners pay.

6️⃣ Not reinvesting into the business and allowing capital to build up.

Think about it – when you visit a website and see that they've got all these legal things like a privacy policy, disclaimer, and terms and conditions, it gives you a sense of security. It's like knowing you're dealing with pros who have their act together. Your privacy policy, for instance, tells your users what you're doing with their data. This transparency builds trust. Your disclaimer can protect you from liabilities and misunderstandings. And terms and conditions? Well, they lay out the rules of the game, so everyone's on the same page, and leaves no room for mishaps on your end.

The legal requirements for your website aren't one-size-fits-all. They depend on where you're located, what kind of business you're running, and what info you're slinging on your site. But these three things are the "basic essentials" for all websites:

🔑Privacy Policy: This is like the golden rule of the internet – be clear about what you're doing with user data. It's not just a legal thing; it's a trust thing.

🔑Disclaimer: This is your way of saying, "Hey, I'm doing my best, but I can't control everything." It's like the "just in case" parachute for your website.

🔑Terms and Conditions: Think of this as your rulebook. It sets the boundaries, so everyone knows what's expected. It's the "let's play fair" agreement.

As I'm sure, you know.. Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant, etc., have become increasingly integrated into our daily lives. These systems are designed to respond to specific wake words, but sometimes they can misinterpret similar-sounding words or phrases as the wake word, leading to accidental activations. A lot of people are worrying that this leads to conversations being recorded. Recently it came out that Zoom has been [allegedly] listening in on meetings to train AI. People are upset about this, rightfully so, because of the worry of your intellectual property being taken and privacy being invaded.

Two things that you can do is:

#1 Read the terms. I can't stress this enough! If you agree to a company or software's terms, you are giving them permission.

#2 If it isn't clear in the terms or you have trouble navigating, reach out to the company and simply ask for the terms or ask specifically if your words/conversations will be listened to.
