WHAT IS A GROUP PROGRAM CONTRACT?

Basically, a group program contract is the contract you use if you’re running a group program (usually 2+ people participating in a program for a defined period of time) and that you send to a client who wants to sign up for the group program, along with their invoice.

A Group Program contract addresses issues like:

  • What your refund policy is
  • When all payments are due and how much
  • Disclaiming liability so you can’t successfully be sued for just anything
  • Keeping your costs low by requiring alternative dispute resolution (aka. arbitration)
  • Making it clear that you’ve told the client who you are + what you do

DO I NEED A GROUP PROGRAM CONTRACT?

I’d say “yes!” There’s inherent risk in offering group programs. We want to be especially careful when offering programs in things like wellness, business, self-care, food, exercise, etc. Your client needs to understand + agree to several things before purchasing your program, or you could be in serious trouble down the line.

Some of the most common issues that come up in group programs are:

  • Clients not understanding what the refund policy is
  • Installment payments being treated like optional, monthly payments
  • Theft or inappropriate sharing of program material
