When filing a trademark you are susceptible to receiving lots of scam mail. If you don't pay close attention, then you will be out of a lot of money!

The #1 thing that I want you to pay attention to is the written language on any piece of mail you receive, no matter how legit it looks. Read every word closely and you'll know if it's actually something you need to entertain or if you can toss it.

A few other things that you can do to shield yourself from scams is:

➡️ File your trademark directly through official government websites

➡️ Verify the contact details and credentials of the organizations you engage with

➡️ Be wary of services that request unusually high fees or pressure you to pay quickly

If you're uncertain about the legitimacy of a communication or service, consult with a qualified trademark attorney.

We've all seen at least one of these but maybe didn't always trust our gut. Red flags are going to come into your business sooner or later. Whether it's directly with client communication, disputing/nonpayment issues, unrealistic expectations of your program, course, or digital product, you'll want to be protected against anything that COULD happen. You need to start with these 3 things ⬇️

1️⃣Don't postpone getting legal protection until your business achieves significant growth. Many entrepreneurs make the mistake of assuming that legal protection is only necessary when their business becomes successful or reaches a certain size. However, waiting too long to address legal matters can be a big mistake.

2️⃣It's important to add legal policies, such as a privacy policy, terms & conditions, and disclaimers, to your website. These policies inform users of their rights and responsibilities when interacting with your business online and establish clear guidelines for the use of your website or services. (don't worry - I have templates for all these policies!)

3️⃣Maintain clear + updated client contracts. Contracts are an essential tool for outlining the terms of your business relationships with clients. Regularly reviewing and updating your contracts ensures that they align with the evolving needs of your business and any changes in relevant laws or regulations.
