Are You (Legally) Prepared to Hire?

Armpit Breakouts, Puzzles, and Great Talks

Quick Biz Question: Where are you in the hiring/team building process?

Thinking of hiring your first VA? Dreaming of having a team of FT employees one day?

If hiring employees is part of your journey at all, the first thing you need to do (before posting the position) is be 👏 prepared 👏.

I don’t say this to discourage you, but to help your hiring journey be as smooth as possible!

Shoot, I’m a lawyer and I still sought help when it came to hiring my first employee.

When I say “be prepared”, I mean:

01. Learn how to be a good leader AND a manager (highly recommend the book Radical Candor by Kim Scott for starters).

02. Consider outsourcing your HR operations to an expert. I personally use Paradigm HR (they have a great program called Set to Scale you can learn more about here – affiliate link).

03. Last, but definitely not least, you’ll need to set up your legal protection – employee contracts, handbook, offer letter, I-9, W-4, payroll, etc.

Before you let this list exhaust you – it’s all very possible and being a “boss” is very rewarding and fun. The people I get to work with make business 10x more fun!

In fact, in today’s OYT podcast episode called ‘How to Hire (legally!)’, I’m walking you through the exact steps you need to get legally legit for your first employee 🎉

You can catch the episode on AppleSpotify, or directly on my podcast page, and leave feeling confident and prepared to make your first hire.

Once you do, send me a DM on Instagram and let me know what your #1 takeaway was from the episode!
