Coffee Talk [November 2017]
Bonjour, friends! I’m so excited to catch up with you in this month’s Coffee Talk post, my monthly series that brings you lots of useful links, things I love, and behind the scenes news. I’m writing to you from Slake — a cool (but super busy) coffee shop in the middle of a trendy shopping district in Lyon, France. I’m working overseas for a few months, so I’ll chat with you a lot about that today.
Let’s dive in! And since I got my branding re-done this month, I’ve updated this series with a new post photo:
1 // Links I love
Being on my own self-curated schedule these days, I’m learning to eat when I want to, not when I feel like I should.
Maybe our productivity would be better off if we created a to-don’t list instead of a to-do list.
Amazing sales right now:
Jcrew is 40% off with code THANKU
Madewell is 25% off with code DONTSTRESS
LOFT is 40% off with GIFTITUP
Nordstrom has lots of fun stuff on sale
Emily tried out 5 different morning routines to see what left her feeling replenished and calm, and what left her feeling more anxious about getting her day started.
“One of the best things I discovered (thanks to years of struggling with my relationship with food and then finding intuitive eating) is how I want to practice âhealthâ in my life.” – Simi Botic
“The way through the challenge is to get still and ask yourself, ‘What is the next right move?’ Not think about, ‘Ooh, I got all of this to figure out.’ What is the next right move? And then from that space, make the next right move and the next right move … then you won’t be overwhelmed by it, because you know your life is bigger than that one moment.” – wise words from the ever-knowing, Oprah
2 // Affiliate Programs + Affiliate Program Contract
I’ve added an affiliate agreement, a new DIY legal template, to the shop for those of you who offer an affiliate program to sell your course, programs, or products.
An affiliate agreement is a contract template that you send out to anyone who you’re taking on as an affiliate for your program/product. Not only does it very clearly set out when they get paid/how/when/what counts as a sale, etc., but it also addresses a number of important legal things to protect you and your business, like:
- Make sure your affiliates know they’re not an employee or representative of your company
- Show affiliates how & when they can use your branding
- What happens if an affiliate violates the rules of your program
- & so much more!
If you’re not sure whether you need an affiliate agreement for your program, set up a free 20-minute Legal Checkup session* with me! By the end of the call, you’ll know what you need, why and when. <3
3 // In France
I’m working from France for a bit and eating my weight in croissants! I’ve been here for about a week and I’m loving it so far. It’s been really cool to be immersed in a different culture for a long period of time. I’ve traveled the world, but I haven’t had too many experiences getting to really settle in somewhere.
So far, I think the biggest differences I’ve noticed are…
- how present everyone seems, whether intentional or not. When they’re having coffee with someone, they just sit and chat — no phones, no interruptions. It seems so peaceful.
- how much more they relax or indulge in hobbies. I see so many people out at cafes practicing their calligraphy skills, reading, or even just sitting. GASP!!!
- Everything is so tiny and it’s because they just use less of everything. The trashcans are smaller, the fridge is super tiny, the sidewalks and steps are even tiny. Their trashcans are smaller because they produce less waste. Their refrigerators are tiny because they buy less food, more often, and food is smaller. You get the drift.
I can’t wait to write more about my experience here. Right now, I’m just trying to work as much as I can and soak up the experience while I’m here.
4 // Fearless Femmepire
Have you joined Fearless Femmepire**, my new Facebook book club and online community, yet? It’s for fearless entrepreneurs who want to read 1 self-care or self-development book per month. I wanted to create a community where women could gather, read, connect, and feel empowered together. This month (November) we’re reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. Next month (December), we’re reading The Wellness Project by Phoebe Lapine.
5 // Business Tip of the Month
Each month, my Coffee Talk post highlights a business tip of the month. Usually, it’s something that comes up often that month with my clients. This month, I want to encourage all of you to think of how you can diversify the streams of income in your business (or create some if they don’t exist already).
6 // H$TL House workshop!
Thank you to everyone who came out to my workshop earlier this month at H$TL House in Philly! I had a great time chatting with you all about how to make sure your businesses are legally legit. Can’t wait to do another one in 2018!
