Hi love! How are you? I’m writing to you with the window finally cracked open, enjoying this cooler breeze that’s wafting through the house.

And since I’m all things basic, I’ve also got my pumpkin spice creamer in my hot coffee ready to go. So why don’t you grab something cozy and join me for my October coffee talk? In case you missed it, you can catch up on September’s coffee talk, too.

If we sat down for a talk over coffee today, I’d ask you how you’re doing. What’s new? How are things with the business? Is there anything I can help you with or talk through with you?

Here’s what I’d share with you about what’s new here lately:

1 // Good Reads

I’ve read a few really good books lately. It wouldn’t be fair for me to keep them all to myself ; )

I read and absolutely loved Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Have you read it?

Little Fires Everywhere Celeste Ng
Little Fires was so good. I couldn’t put it down. Little Fires Everywhere focuses on this small, affluent town in Ohio where everybody knows everybody’s business. It was just so much more than I expected and I don’t want to ruin it for you. You won’t be disappointed.

I also read and loved Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. It follows Eleanor as she breaks out of her shell and heals from past trauma. It’s perfectly light, while also being intense, and cheeky — all at the same time.

Eleanor OliphantSince I finished those two, I just dove into An American Marriage. So far, so very good! I’ll update you on that one next month.  Can’t wait to talk about it with you ; )

2 // Leukemia Research + Support

If we were to meet, I’d ask you to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society — the organization at the forefront of researching a cure for these awful diseases. There’s still so much work to be done in this area. And from what I understand, the LLS is so helpful to families who need support, access, resources, and funding.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t know much about leukemia before my Dad was diagnosed with AML recently. I suppose I knew enough to know what the signs of it were, but I didn’t know how many different types there are, what they all mean, and just how many people have been affected by this disease.

If you could, I’d ask you to donate to this wonderful organization through our fundraising page here and click ‘donate to team’ on the right hand side. Absolutely all of the donations go to LLS (and go directly through them, not me).

We walked in 1 Light The Night walk last week, but we’re walking again in Philly on October 27, 2018 in support of my Dad and my cousin, Eddie. If you’re local, get in touch so we can walk together. And no matter where you live, any support for this amazing organization is so appreciated.

Watch

This new docu-series, Salt Fat Acid Heat, on Netflix is incredible. Chef, Samin Nosrat, takes us around the world to learn the 4 essential building-blocks of cooking: salt fat acid and heat.

You’ll be hooked from episode 1 (Fat), where Samin travels to Italy and shows us how olive oil, pesto, cheese, and pork help build depth of flavor in our food.

Also, have you watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon?! Ryan and I binge watched Season 1 of this incredible show. Mrs. Maisel follows 1950’s Midge as she breaks out of her housewife role and tries to step onto the stage as a comedian. Her journey to get there, and society’s idea of what a woman should/shouldn’t do at the time, is amazing to watch.

I love watching 1950’s NYC culture — and feel both sad and inspired of what’s different/the same about women’s role in society today v. 1950’s.
