Hi friends! How was your weekend? I hope it was a great one. A few weeks ago I got to speak with the wonderful women from the Wine + Shine podcast, Nina & Liz. We had such a great chat about self-care, starting a health coaching practice, starting a 2nd business, finding happiness after an unhappy career, finding balance, & more!

Our podcast interview came out today. You can listen to it here, or download it on iTunes (search for Wine and Shine and then look for epi. 32).

I’ve said it here before, but organic marketing is the key to growing your business AND finding happiness in what you do.

Organic marketing is the type of marketing of your business that happens when you’re sharing your purpose + passion with the world.

Maybe you write articles, get interviewed on Podcasts, interact in Facebook groups, host workshops, and so on.

What does happiness have to do with organic networking? Everything.

Organic networking actually brings you more happiness as an entrepreneur.

Have you ever been in a job or career path (or even a major in school) that you felt super disconnected from? Yeah, you worked with nice people and did some fun things now and again, but something just didn’t feel right?

That’s how I felt as an attorney. I had such a strong passion for wellness, business, being your own boss, and food that I didn’t feel like I could relate to those around me.

I felt super alone in my career. Sadly, I also felt like something was wrong with me…like I could hack it or I wasn’t strong enough to handle it. Thankfully, I learned (mostly after leaving) how wrong I was. I learned how many of my friends & colleagues were silently struggling and just trying to figure it out.

As an entrepreneur or solopreneur, especially, are you ever lonely in what you do? Maybe you work from home, don’t interact with other people, and feel like the only person who chats with you all day is your dog? I get it.

I’m determined to have a different career as an entrepreneur than I did as an attorney.

Part of the beauty of carving your own path is getting to choose who you hang out with and who you surround yourself with.

You can choose to surround yourself with positive, driven, strong, independent women like you.

That was one of the reasons I went to the Good Fest in Philly this past April. I wanted to…

  • connect with and meet other like-minded women in my area
  • meet more friends who loved what I loved
  • feel inspired and motivated to keep going in this crazy thing we call entrepreneurship;
  • And, more than anything, I hoped to meet people to collaborate with or who I could help, so this job would have a little more flavor to it.

I did just that & more!

I also met Nina & Liz from Wine + Shine. They’re super adorable, bubbly, energetic best friends. I love how down-to-earth they are and I love how much they compliment each other.

Everyone needs a Nina + Liz.

Out of this organic connection at a super fun event back in April came our Podcast interview you’ll listen to today.

I get questions from people all the time about how to get on Podcasts, featured in articles, accepted as a contributor, etc. and they all think it has something to do with followers, luck, or who-you-know.

So I’m hoping in sharing this with you today you realize that good ole’ fashioned organic networking (and meeting people because you genuinely want to get to know them + connect) works.

And when I say “works,” I don’t mean “instantly gets you clients”. I mean broadens your reach. Expands your network. Exposes you to new experiences, ideas, and people. Incorporates you into the community in which you want to be a part of.

In other words, showing up (being present) and connecting because you want to genuinely connect with another person or company. Not to make a buck.

And it feels darn good in the process.

I hope you enjoy the podcast episode! I’d love to hear what you think afterward.wine and shine podcast sam vander wielen samantha vander wielen health coach legal templates
