This Business Myth Is Hurting Your Business

This Business Myth Is Hurting Your Business

Like any married couple, we have the same fight over and over again.

It happens every time we go into New York City from our house out on Long Island.

“Do you want to take the train or drive in?” my husband, Ryan, asks.

“Train. Always the train,” I’ll say, holding back my eye roll because my therapist has advised me it’s not as good of a communication device as I think it is.

“I’d rather drive,” he says like clockwork.

My mind starts racing, “why would you drive when you can sit quietly on a train for 2 hours!? It’s like someone’s driving you! It’s better for the environment. Plus, think of all of the money you save on tolls, gas, and tunnel charges!”

Ryan’s mind races differently, “I want to come and go as I please. We can drive in and out when we want, without having to worry about a train schedule or delays.”

As much as my Scorpio self would love to argue the merits of my train position with you, michelle, here’s the deal:

We don’t need to even go over it because the truth is…

There’s more than one (good) way to get into the city.

Whether you go by bus, train, car, carpool, or take your private helicopter like my neighbor does (LOL), they all have their +/-. Either way, you get into the city.

But I didn’t come here to settle my (petty) disputes with Ryan…

It’s just so similar to building your own business, that’s all.

You’ll hear all kinds of advice online telling you this or that strategy is THE way, but the reality is…

There’s no one right way to build a business.

There are many paths to success, just like there are to getting into the city.

It’s one of the biggest things I talk about in my book, When I Start My Business, I’ll Be Happy: A Practical, No-BS Guide to Successful Online Entrepreneurship

I encourage you to own your path in business and tap into marketing strategies that not only work for you, but your audience. ( PRE-ORDER MY BOOK→ and instantly get a free email course teaching you how to add 1k subscribers to your email list.)

When you take someone else’s path, whether by accident or on purpose, you’re buying into the idea that they know better than you, and their way is not only correct, but will work for you, too.

It’s more important to understand what works for you, not everyone else.

So how do you do that?

I made you a video teaching you:

  • why the “one right way” to build your business thing is a myth
  • what really drives business success instead
  • how to filter out the noise of everyone’s strategies and focus on building your business instead
