Why Innovation and Entrepreneurship Go Hand-in-Hand

A sprinkle of sugar, dropping in a whole white onion, adding a bay leaf, roasting it in a dutch oven instead of simmering —

There are so many little things you can do to make your own tomato sauce, your own way, the best you’ve ever had.

You might like yours a little sweeter, spicier or garlicky than I do.

That’s the beautiful part of cooking, — you can adjust, adapt and make things you like, the way you like them.

It’s also the difference between a chef and a cook.

A chef innovates. They take random ingredients, Chopped-style, and create something unique out of it. They use their senses, experience, and creativity to serve us something insanely delicious.

A cook, on the other hand, makes the chef’s recipes. They can follow directions and re-create things that were born out of the Chef’s creation.

There’s nothing better or worse about either one in life (hey, not everyone can be a Chef or wants to be!) — but when it comes to your business,

Are you acting like a chef or a cook?

Are you sprinkling your own creativity and voice into your programs, copy, and client work?

Or do you find yourself (with good intentions, of course) trying to replicate the way other people run their businesses in your space?

I think everyone goes through a little cook period — but it’s time to shift into full on chef mode 😉

One of the best ways to Chef it up in your own business and do things uniquely your own way is to break out of the online business bubble: consume content from other people in other industries, listen to different stories, approach things with curiosity.

That’s why when I had the idea to ask my friend and insanely talented, famous, and 7 (!!) time James Beard award winning Chef Michael Solomonov (of Zahav, Laser Wolf, Goldie etc) to come on my podcast, On Your Terms®, I thought,

“YES! Why not?! This is exactly the convo we need to hear. Plus, I need to know what he cooks at home…”

Yep, Mike’s a super famous chef and I sell legal templates — but I’m so inspired by his creativity, perseverance (he was addicted to crack & heroin, lost his brother in war, and started a restaurant at the start of the ’08 crash), and business ingenuity.

I’m SO freakin’ excited to tell you that today’s the day you can listen to our convo on my pod.

🎙 Listen to Episode 63 “Cooking, Overcoming Obstacles & Building an Empire [Guest Interview w/ Chef Mike Solomonov]” of On Your Terms® here!👇

I’m so excited for you to give it a listen! Will send me a message and let me know what you thought?!

I’d also love to know what your takeaway is from the chef/cook convo we just had above. I think about it almost daily — I’m not here to cook other people’s recipes. I’m here to create stuff you’ve never even tasted before 😉
